I'm Married to Goldilocks!

Our son Tyler is growing up and needs a "big boy bed." That means it's time to go out and buy a new mattress. But we're not going to get a mattress for Tyler, he's going to get our old mattress. We're going to get a new mattress for Dave and Melody! Woo Hoo! What fun, what incredible fun!

So we take our day off to head to the mattress store and buy a new mattress. Now I'm not kidding you, it doesn't matter how many mattresses we try out or how long we lay there in the store with "the mattress dude" watching over us the entire time, I am not going to find a mattress I like - ever!

The first one we took home ended up being way too firm...we took it back the next day...much to the dismay of "the mattress dude."

The second mattress was too bouncy...every time one of us turned over, the other one fell out of bed. This is not a good way to sustain a long term relationship.

The third mattress we found seemed just right...until we got it home. Then we discovered that it was too plush, and when Melody slept on her stomach, she almost suffocated.

Now keep in mind, we're carrying each of these mattresses up and down the stairs each time...making the bed each time...sleeping on them for a night...and then taking them back the next day. What increddible fun. This is what brings a couple together!

Finally, we ended up at American Mattress on 141st and 37. A "mattress dude" named Bob helped us this time. We were at our wits end. We picked another mattress and when he checked to see if it was in stock, guess what?

You got it! No luck. So we took a loaner home for a night...it was a long night! Then we took it back the next day when our real mattress finally arrived and this time....(drumroll please)...we think we've found a winner! We've been together now for almost 3 nights and we're still going strong!

This entire ordeal has been a process in spiritual formation for Melody and me. It has united us. It has brought us together in so many incredible ways. If you're having issues with your marriage, why not go mattress shopping? You never know what might happen...
